We are excited to announce our new geomorphology project! This project aims to obtain data on fluvial erosion within our watershed using Rapid Geomorphic Assessments (RGA) and the Rapid Stream Assessment Technique (RSAT). The project involves collaborating with property owners to mitigate bank erosion, helping to protect their land from erosion while preserving and enhancing nearby aquatic habitats. Additionally, we are working with Indigenous communities and other watershed organizations to share data and resources, all in pursuit of the collective goal of watershed resiliency. Thank you to the Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Fund (AERF) for funding our new project!

To effectively execute this project, our geomorphology team attended Ron Jenkins 5R Environmental Consulting inc. training “Discovering and Understanding the River Corridor Through Data Collection and Interpretation”. During this training our team learned theoretical Geomorphology basics in class and how to apply Geomorphology protocols on the field.

For this new project we are currently searching for possible restorations sites. If you know of any possible sites email olisaemeka.n@petitcodiacwatershed.org or luana.c@petitcodiacwatershed.org the location of eroding banks you see near rivers, brooks, and streams within the Petitcodiac Watershed.
