This fall, our Outreach & Education team had the privilege of participating in Learning for a Sustainable Future (LSF)’s Youth Forums two full days dedicated to empowering young people across New Brunswick to take meaningful climate action. Hosted at the Université de Moncton, the forums brought together students from grades 7–12 for hands-on workshops and interactive learning experiences focused on sustainability and local environmental challenges. Two Days, Two Languages, One Mission.

PWA attended both event days:

  • English Youth Forum – October 29, 2025
  • French Youth Forum – October 30, 2025

Each forum offered students and educators a space to explore climate issues, develop leadership skills, and connect with local organizations working on environmental solutions. PWA was excited to contribute by showcasing watershed science, stormwater impacts, and green infrastructure solutions through interactive demonstrations.

Direct Engagement With 64 Students & Teachers across both forum days, our team directly interacted with 64 participants, including students, educators, and youth leaders who visited our booth or engaged with our watershed model:

  • 33 direct interactions during the English Forum
  • 31 direct interactions during the French Forum

Participants were eager to learn about topics such as watershed health, stormwater pollution, climate impacts, and ways they can contribute to local environmental improvement. Helping students visualize how runoff, land use, and flooding affect the Petitcodiac region.

Why These Events Matter ?

New Brunswick is already experiencing increased rainfall, flooding, and stormwater challenges driven by climate change. Helping youth understand these realities and how local watersheds respond is essential for building resilient communities.
Youth Forums like these:

  • Strengthen environmental literacy
  • Support climate-focused classroom learning
  • Connect students to real-world watershed issues
  • Encourage youth-led action and solutions
  • Plant seeds for future environmental careers

We extend our thanks to Learning for a Sustainable Future and the Université de Moncton Faculty of Education Sciences for organizing such impactful and inspiring events. By fostering learning, discussion, and creativity, the Youth Forums empower the next generation to think critically about environmental challenges and take action where it matters most right here in their communities.
