We are excited to announce that construction of the PWA’s very first floating island is officially underway! This island will be installed within the Irishtown Nature Park in the hopes of reducing the levels of nitrates and phosphates in the park which have historically led to algae blooms and restrictions on water access for parkgoers.

We are currently aiming for an installation sometime between late June and mid-July, and we are looking for any volunteers who might be interested in joining us in sending off our very first island. Volunteers will get to install plants on the island while learning about native species and the important role shoreline plants play in cleaning our waterways. Keep an eye out for more information as the project continues, and we hope to see you all at our first installation!
