Job opportunity: Contract Environmental Restoration Support

We are currently seeking motivated Contract Environmental Restoration Support to join our team for a four-week full-time position two weeks in the spring/early summer and two weeks in the summer/early fall. Exact dates will be determined based on project implementation dates. 

As Environmental Restoration Support, you will support PWA staff and contractors in bank restoration efforts, contributing to the enhancement and protection of watercourses in the Petitcodiac River, New Brunswick. Your work will focus on mitigating erosion at degraded sites, with special attention to species-at-risk habitats, particularly the endangered inner Bay of Fundy Atlantic salmon.  

Position Overview:  

The Contract Environmental Restoration Support will play a key role in ensuring the successful completion of bank restoration projects. This position involves hands-on fieldwork and close collaboration with the project team in a supportive, team-oriented environment.  

Experience Preferred:  

  • Previous tree planting and/or outdoor labour experience preferred 
  • Ability to work in varying conditions and terrain 
  • Strong work ethic and able to perform manual tasks efficiently 
  • Interest in environmental restoration and conservation 

Specific duties include:  

  • Plant native trees to establish shoreline vegetation 
  • Assist in the installation of bank stabilization materials  
  • Follow planting and installation guidelines to ensure tree survival and effectiveness of bank stabilization methods   
  • Work in collaboration with the team to ensure efficiency and accuracy of implementation  
  • Carrying 50 pounds repeatedly
